Chicagoland for 5 days

Alumni. I’m spending three day learning about how other folks do it. Had nice meat-loaf and peas in Lincoln Park at Duke of Perth with Mark ’06. Then we threw some darts for a bit at the place he shares with Tom.

When one mixes with other schools one learns how different Calvin is. Some schools seem to build their alumni base on elitism and athletics . . . . what shallow soil. Just like in track & field; when I’m doing the alumni thing I have to do things differently in the Calvin community. No greek system, no idolatry of the bigger, faster, stronger–shwew. Had a nice walk with MVD. I’ll have to bring the childrens to Chicagoland’s version of Millennium Park. Dominick’s is a good spot.

Great Monday lunch with cousin Doug. We toured the north side of town . . . . visiting his two Bizarre stores and stopping by his $260,000 one and one-half bedroom condo. She made me hot chocolate with Mexican chocolate . . . . nice.
